Piascore App

​I'm always looking for ways to support learning for Dyslexic musicians and use my own experiences to help others.
A few years back, I was introduced to the app Piascore by musicians of the Countess of Wessex String Orchestra as they had completely digitised their library, issuing all members with an iPad.
Personally, I can't live without my iPad and decided to purchase the app.
PiaScore doesn't revolutionise your life as a musician, but I would say it just makes a few things easier; that normally I might struggle with.

1. Organisation - During the week, I will deliver choir rehearsals, 1–1 lessons and participate in band practices. Using this app has allowed me to scan all the music and separate into different set lists. This makes it easier for me to manage and reduces the need for separate folders. Obviously, it doesn't reduce the chance of forgetting the iPad ;-)
2. Marking Music - I love to mark my music with different colours and annotate with different points. Purchasing an Apple Pencil allowed me to take advantage of this feature with the app with the knowledge it's all personal to me.
3. Size of Music - The ability to enlarge music quickly and easily is brilliant. A feature that when the passage becomes complicated makes it easier for me.
4. Metronome - Having this built within the app, gives me the visual reference within my eye line. Making it easier for me to work with the music.

For the small amount of money that I paid for it, I found that it has brought me great advantages to my own practice (both teaching and individually). It might not work for everyone, but certainly I have found it a valuable tool.
